Melanie Wasson was born in London, England in 1968. She moved with her family to Texas when she was 5 and has been here ever since. Melanie was certified to dive in Texas lakes and quarries the spring of 1994, and worked her way to divemaster by the next summer. Lured by blue water and sharks, she started crewing as galley on the Fling in 1996, was a trip leader for Sea Sports Scuba during 1996 and 1997, and divemastered on both boats in 1997. Somewhere in there, she became a PADI Instructor. Melanie abandoned her desk job and became a full-time divemaster on the Spree in 1998, and a Captain followed her home at the end of that season. After receiving permission to keep him, they were married in Belize on the beach in a rainstorm. Melanie received her Captain’s license in February of 2001, so if you see her driving the boat don’t worry, she is fully qualified to do so. She looks forward to seeing you on the M/V Spree.
